Why is my baby orange?

Frequently Asked Question.

This "condition" – called carotenemia is completely harmless and very common.

If you are feeding your little one lots of foods rich in beta-carotene such as carrots, sweet potatoes, and squash (or if you are breastfeeding consuming lots of these foods yourself) your baby may begin to take on an orange glow.

You may want to mention your baby’s orange hue to your pediatrician – just to make sure it isn’t related to jaundice or other health conditions. More than likely, his glow will be celebrated as a ‘job well done’…as he’s certainly getting his fair share of ultra-healthy beta-carotene!
